Travel Photography in the context of special interest can be explained as location photography. Photographing a particular location can be compared to capturing the personality of an individual through Portrait photography. In essence rather than just click frames, I do an indepth study of the location / place at different times of the day/night etc. The result ? A clean personality of the location!.
Ultimately studying the locations can be very rewarding. Clouds, overcast weather, dawn light, dusk light, rain, all play a part in creating the mood for the photograph.
Travel photography is basically the skill to capture images from various locations. Be it traveling in a train, attending a funeral, baptism, children’s park, temple festivals, trekking tropical trails, construction sites, casualty room in a hospital; all places are potential image banks. When you are aware about the possibilities at a given place, you begin to see things from a different perspective and with a purpose. You start looking for light, shades, shadows, highlights, emotions on the face of people, angles that add interest in compositions. When you are an amateur, you are happy with just taking snapshots. As a serious photographer, you see deeper, and start using the elements in the composition in a convincing manner. Later you are bound to feel deeper attachments to your subject matter and will be successful in capturing the spirit of the subject.
